WHAT YOU SAY: “I love reading the Bible and spending time with Jesus. Let’s read our Bible story together right now!”
WHAT YOU DO: Read “Jesus Calms the Storm” — Matthew 8:23-27 from the Bible.
TODDLER ACTIVITIES
Complete the following activities below with your toddler to help them learn that Jesus is powerful.
January 3:
Song Activity: All Powerful
WHAT YOU DO:
- Lead your toddler in singing the following to the tune of “Mary Had a Little Lamb.”
Jesus is all powerful, powerful, powerful.
Jesus is all powerful,
and we can trust in Him.
We can trust Him when we’re scared,
when we’re scared, when we’re scared.
We can trust Him when we’re scared.
Mighty in power is He.
- Continue the activity for as long as your toddler is interested, choosing a different verse each time. For example, “We can trust Him (when we’re sad, while we wait, when we’re angry, etc.).
- After the activity, say, “You did a wonderful job singing! Who is powerful?” Encourage your toddler to say, “Jesus is powerful!”
January 10:
Memory Verse Activity: Memory Freeze
WHAT YOU NEED: Safari Worship Playlist
WHAT YOU SAY: “Our memory verse helps us remember that Jesus is powerful!”
WHAT YOU DO:
- Lead your toddler in saying Psalm 147:5a three times. Say the verse, line by line, encouraging your toddler to repeat and complete the actions after you.
“Great is our Lord (point up)
and mighty (hold up muscles)
in power.” (hands on hips)

- Then have a dance party to help your toddler remember the memory verse.
- After about 30 seconds, pause the music and encourage your toddler to stand very still or FREEZE.
- Lead them in saying the memory verse with the actions. Then turn the music on again and repeat the activity every 30 seconds.
January 17:
Game Activity: Jesus Is Powerful
WHAT YOU DO:
- Say, “Let’s play a game to help us remember that Jesus is more powerful than anything we face and we can trust Him!”
- Read the prompts below and encourage your toddler to respond.
- “If you know Jesus is more powerful than loud and scary thunderstorms, make muscles and say, ‘Jesus is powerful!’”
- “If you know Jesus is more powerful than creepy bugs, make muscles and say, ‘Jesus is powerful!’”
- “If you know Jesus is more powerful than big and scary dogs, make muscles and say, ‘Jesus is powerful!’”
- “If you know Jesus is more powerful than the dark, make muscles and say, ‘Jesus is powerful!’”
- “If you know Jesus is more powerful than loud and scary noises, make muscles and say, ‘Jesus is powerful!’”
- After the activity, say, “Great job! Remember, Jesus is powerful and we can always trust Him. Who is powerful?” Encourage your toddler to say, “Jesus is powerful!”
January 24:
Song Activity: We Can Trust In Jesus
- Lead your toddler in singing the following to the tune of “The Farmer in the Dell.”
There was a scary storm.
There was a scary storm.
The disciples were afraid of it,
but Jesus stopped the storm.
Jesus stopped the storm.
Jesus stopped the storm.
The wind and waves were very calm,
when Jesus stopped the storm.
We can trust in Jesus.
We can trust in Jesus.
Jesus is all powerful,
and we can trust in Him.
- Continue the activity for as long as your toddler is interested.
- After the activity, say, “You did a wonderful job singing! Who is powerful?” Encourage your toddler to say, “Jesus is powerful!”
January 31:
Game Activity: More Powerful
WHAT YOU DO:
- Read each prompt below and encourage your toddler to respond.
- Pat your knees, like there’s a BIG thunderstorm outside! (Pause.) Storms can be loud and scary, but Jesus is more powerful than any thunderstorm. We can trust Him!
- Let me see you bark, like you’re pretending to be a dog! (Pause.) You might be afraid if you see a big dog and it barks really loud. Jesus is more powerful than any scary dog and we can trust Him!
- Can you pretend you’re asleep? (Pause.) The dark can seem scary when you’re trying to fall asleep at night, but Jesus is powerful, and we can trust Him!
- Now pretend to fly like a bee! (Pause.) You might be afraid when you see a BIG bug. Jesus is more powerful than any kind of bug, and we can trust Him!
- Let me see you close your eyes! (Pause.) You might be afraid when you’re watching a movie with your parents and a scary part comes on. Jesus is more powerful than what you see in a movie, and you can trust Him no matter what!
- After the activity, say, “Remember, Jesus is powerful, and we can trust Him no matter what. Who is powerful?” Encourage your toddler to say, “Jesus is powerful!”
