BIBLE STORY: Baby Jesus is Born I Luke 2:1-7

This month we are learning, “Jesus is God’s Son.” God loves us so much that He gave us His Son, Jesus, to be our friend forever!

We are learning the story, “Baby Jesus is Born,” in Luke 2:1-7. When Mary and Joseph were traveling back to their hometown of Bethlehem, Mary was about to have a baby. When they arrived in Bethlehem, there was nowhere to sleep. A kind man helped them by letting them stay in his stable. While they were there, baby Jesus was born! We celebrate Christmas because Jesus is God’s Son who was born and given to us to be our friend forever. God loves us so much, that He gave us His Son, Jesus!

We made a Bible Story Meal Time Mat to help us remember that Jesus is God’s Son. Place the Bible Story Meal Time Mat at the table where your toddler eats. Before each meal, point to the place mat and review the Bible story with your toddler:

• Who is the baby in the picture? (Baby Jesus)
• What can we learn from the story of Jesus’ birth? (Jesus is God’s Son. God gave His Son, Jesus, because He loves us.)

Ask, “The story of Jesus’ birth teaches us that Jesus is God’s Son. We celebrate Christmas because God gave us His Son, Jesus, to be our friend forever. Who is God’s Son?” Encourage your toddler to say, “Jesus is God’s Son!”
