Safari :: Week of December 8

Read Luke 2:1-7 together as a family. Use a storybook Bible if you have one (pages 82-87 in The Beginner’s Bible for Toddlers or pages 268-271 in God’s Story for Me Bible Storybook).

Play a fun game with your toddler to help them remember Jesus is God’s Son!

Lead your toddler in a parade around the room while singing “Happy Birthday” to Jesus. During the parade, switch it up and encourage your toddler to march, hop, twirl, crawl, walk slow, or walk fast.

Continue the activity for as long as your toddler is interested. After the activity say, “God gave us His Son Jesus to be our friend forever and we celebrate Jesus’ birth at Christmas! Who is God’s Son?” Encourage your toddler to say, “Jesus is God’s Son!”

This month our memory verse is Isaiah 9:6:

“God (point up)
has given (extend hands forward)
a son (pretend to rock a baby)
to us.” (point thumbs to chest)
Isaiah 9:6, NCV  (open hands like a book)

Practice reciting the memory verse with the motions together as a family. Have your toddler repeat the memory verse after you using a loud voice, a whisper voice, and a silly voice.
