BIBLE STORY: Feeding 5,000 I Mark 6:31-44

This month we’re learning, “Jesus can do anything.” In December, our toddlers learned that Jesus is God’s Son. This month, they’ll learn that because Jesus is God’s Son, He can do anything!

We’ll read the story, “Jesus Feeds Thousands” in Mark 6:31-44 to learn about the time when Jesus fed over 5,000 people with just five loaves of bread and two fish. Jesus took the food, gave thanks to God, and it began to multiply. Everyone had eaten, and there were 12 baskets of food leftover! Jesus fed over 5,000 people with a small lunch, and He do anything!

We made a Bible Story Meal Time Mat to help us remember that Jesus can do anything. Place the Bible Story Meal Time Mat at the table where your toddler eats. Before each meal, point to the placemat and review the Bible story with your toddler:

• Who is in the picture? (Jesus, the disciples, a young boy)
• Did Jesus use the young boy’s lunch to feed over 5,000 people? (yes)
• Does this story teach us that Jesus can do anything? (yes)

Say, “That’s right! Can you believe that Jesus fed a whole crowd of people with such a small lunch? Nothing is too hard for Jesus because He can do anything! Who can do anything?” Encourage your toddler to say, “Jesus can do anything!”
