BIBLE STORY: The Mean Giant (David and Goliath) | 1 Samuel 17:1-50
This month we are learning, “I can be brave.” We will learn the story, “The Mean Giant,” in 1 Samuel 17:1-50. David was only a young boy, but he was brave. He wasn’t afraid to fight Goliath even though Goliath was a mean man who did bad things. David knew he could be brave because God would protect Him. Just like David was brave when he needed to fight Goliath, we can be brave, too!
We made a Bible story mat to help us remember we can be brave. Place the Meal Time Bible Story Mat at the table where your toddler eats. Before each meal, point to the place mat and review the Bible story with your child:
- What do you see in the picture? (David and Goliath)
- Do you think David was afraid to fight Goliath because he was so big? (Yes, that would be scary.)
Say, “We can be brave when we have to do things that scare us because God protects us. Just like God made David brave when he had to fight Goliath, we can be brave, too!”
