BIBLE STORY: Joseph’s Story | Genesis 37-47

This month we are learning, “God is with me.” Whenever we are scared, we can remember that we don’t have to be afraid because God is with us!

We will learn, “Joseph’s Story,” in Genesis 37-47. When Joseph’s father gave him a special, colorful coat, his brothers were angry and they put him into a deep, dark pit. Then, they sent him far away where he was put in jail for something he didn’t do. Even when Joseph was in the pit and he went to jail after his brothers sent him away, he didn’t have to be afraid because God was with him the whole time. We don’t ever have to be afraid, because just like God was with Joseph, He is always with us, too!

We made a Bible story mat to help us remember God is always with us. Place the Meal Time Bible Story Mat at the table where your toddler eats. Before each meal, point to the place mat and review the Bible story with your child:

• Who is the man celebrating with his family in the picture? (Joseph)
• Who was with Joseph when he went to jail after his brothers sent him away? (God was with Joseph.)

Say, “Yes, that’s right! Joseph didn’t have to be afraid when his brothers sent him away or when he was in jail, because God was with him the whole time. God was with Joseph and He will be with you, too. Who is with you?” Encourage your toddler to say, “God is with me.”
