Bible Story: 1 Samuel 20
Main Point: The truth helps others!
Memory Verse: “Finally, let the Lord make you strong. Depend on his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor. Then you can remain strong against the devil’s evil plans.” Ephesians 6:10-11
Dear princes and princesses of the Royal Land,
I can’t wait to celebrate the Royal Ball with you in seven weeks! While we wait for the big celebration, I’m so glad you are spending time at my castle as I share stories with you from my Storybook!
This weekend’s story was about Sir Pogo the knight and Darrin the Daring Donkey as they began their quest to collect the armor of God. During their adventure they found a lion in lots of pain because he had a Super Sweet Sweetie Sweet stuck in his tooth! Even though they knew how to help the lion, they decided not to help because they were afraid they would get hurt. Instead, Sir Pogo gave the lion directions to the next village to find a dentist. After the lion left, a Messenger came with a message of great importance from the Queen. It was a letter about Jonathan about David from the Bible!
In this Bible story, David was a mighty warrior for King Saul. The people liked David more than King Saul and this made the king very angry. He wanted to hurt David. King Saul’s son, Jonathan, and David were friends. Jonathan and the king were eating dinner and the king was still very angry at David and wanted to hurt him even more! When Jonathan realized King Saul was going to hurt David he warned David to never come back. If Jonathan had not told David the truth, David would have been hurt!
Sir Pogo and Darrin learned the truth helps others, just like Jonathan told the truth and helped David from the Bible story. Sir Pogo and Darrin went to find the lion and pulled the Super Sweet Sweetie Sweet out of his tooth! Because they told the truth, the lion gave them the belt of truth! Remember princes and princess, you should always tell the truth, too, because the truth helps others!
Have a royal week,
The Queen

MEMORY VERSE
Join us in helping your child learn Ephesians 6:10-11! If your child comes back with this verse memorized, they will receive their own storybook from the Queen, filled with the adventures of Sir Pogo and Darrin the Daring Donkey.
Finally, let the Lord (point up)
make you strong. (make muscles)
Depend on his mighty power. (shout POWER and shoot fist in air)
Put on all of God’s armor. (hands on hips)
Then you (point out)
can remain strong (cup hands around mouth and repeat ‘strong’ three times)
against the devil’s evil plans. (tap fingers together like a villain)
Ephesians 6:10-11
Learning this verse helps us learn how to be better leaders, like those in the Bible stories we read each week. Practice your verse with your prince and princess, then ask him or her to Remember, Think, and Follow to review what we learned this weekend:
1. Remember: Who were the two friends in our Bible story? (David and Jonathan)
2. Think: What did Jonathan do for his friend David? (He told him the truth!)
3. Follow: Can we follow Jonathan’s example and tell the truth to help others? (Yes!)
