Bible Story: Luke 23:26 – 24:7
Main Point: Jesus took my punishment!
Memory Verse: “Finally, let the Lord make you strong. Depend on his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor. Then you can remain strong against the devil’s evil plans.” Ephesians 6:10-11
Dear princes and princesses of the Royal Land,
I have been sharing a wonderful adventure from my Storybook about Sir Pogo the Knight and Darrin the Daring Donkey searching for the armor of God. So far on their journey, they have collected four pieces of armor: the belt of truth, the chest plate of righteousness, the shoes of peace, and the shield of faith!
While searching for the fifth piece of armor, the helmet of salvation, they headed to the Village of the Purple Flower. When they found the purple flower in the middle of the village, Darrin decided to eat the purple flower. The townspeople were so angry they wanted to punish Darrin!
Before they could punish Darrin, a messenger gave Sir Pogo a very special message from the Queen about the story of Jesus.
Jesus is God’s son and took the punishment for all the bad things we’ve done, called sin. But God sent his son Jesus as a gift to us. Jesus took our punishment by dying on the cross so we could live in heaven with Jesus one day. Because Jesus took our punishment, all we need to do is ask God to forgive us when we do something wrong – and He will!
Sir Pogo learned about Jesus and decided to help Darrin by taking his punishment for him, just like Jesus took the punishment for you and me. But neither Sir Pogo nor Darrin needed to be punished, because the real purple flower had been moved by the gardener and was safe!
When we put on the helmet of salvation, we believe Jesus took the punishment for all the bad things we do. We put on the helmet of salvation by believing in Jesus, asking him to forgive us when we do bad things, and following what the Bible says and living like Jesus.
This week remember Jesus took our punishment for all the bad things we do. He took the punishment for eating pretty purple flowers, He took the punishment when we disobey our moms and days, He took the punishment when we are mean to our brothers and sisters … Jesus will always forgive us if we ask Him!
See you next weekend at the castle for another story about Sir Pogo and Darrin the Daring Donkey!
Have a royal week,
The Queen

MEMORY VERSE
Join us in helping your child learn Ephesians 6:10-11! If your child comes back with this verse memorized, they will receive their own storybook from the Queen, filled with the adventures of Sir Pogo and Darrin the Daring Donkey.
Finally, let the Lord (point up)
make you strong. (make muscles)
Depend on his mighty power. (shout POWER and shoot fist in air)
Put on all of God’s armor. (hands on hips)
Then you (point out)
can remain strong (cup hands around mouth and repeat ‘strong’ three times)
against the devil’s evil plans. (tap fingers together like a villain)
Ephesians 6:10-11
Learning this verse helps us learn how to be better leaders, like those in the Bible stories we read each week. Practice your verse with your prince and princess, then ask him or her to Remember, Think, and Follow to review what we learned this weekend:
1. Remember: Who were the friends in our Bible story? (Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego)
2. Think: When the king threw Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the fiery furnace, what did they do? (They trusted God.)
3. Follow: Can you follow the example of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego and trust God? (yes)
