WHAT YOU NEED: Bible (Use a children’s Bible if you have one.) 

WHAT YOU SAY: “I love reading the Bible and spending time with Jesus. Let’s read our Bible story together right now!”

WHAT YOU DO: Read “Jesus is Born” — Luke 2:1-7 from the Bible. (CLICK HERE for children’s Bible recommendations.)

TODDLER ACTIVITIES

Complete the activities below with your toddler to help them learn Jesus loves everyone.

December 4:

Song Activity:

WHAT YOU DO: 

  • Lead your toddler in singing the following to the tune of “Jingle Bells.”

Jesus is,
          Jesus is,
          Jesus is God’s Son.
          God loves me and you so much,
         He gave His Son to us.

  • Continue the activity for as long as your toddler is interested.
  • After the activity, say, “Great job! Who is God’s Son?” Encourage your toddler to say, “Jesus is God’s Son!”

December 11:

Memory Verse Activity: 

WHAT YOU NEED: Safari Playlist

WHAT YOU DO: 

  • Before the activity, practice saying the memory verse and doing the motions a few times.
  • Play the Safari playlist and have a dance party to help your toddler remember the memory verse.
  • After about 30 seconds, pause the music and encourage your toddler to stand very still or FREEZE.
  • Lead them in saying the memory verse with these motions:

          “God (point up)
           has given (move hands in front of you)
            a son (pretend to rock a baby)
           to us.” (thumbs to chest)
           Isaiah 9:6b (open hands like a book)

  • After saying the verse, turn the music on again and repeat the activity every 30 seconds for as long as your toddler is interested.
  • After the activity, say, “Great job! Who is God’s Son?” Encourage your toddler to say, “Jesus is God’s Son!”

December 18 :

Response Activity:

WHAT YOU DO: 

  • Read each prompt below and encourage your toddler to respond.
    • “God sent an angel to tell Mary He was going to give us Jesus. Pretend to fly like you’re an angel!” (Pause.)
    • “Mary and Joseph went to a town called Bethlehem where Jesus was born. Let’s walk around the room and pretend to travel like Mary and Joseph!” (Pause.)
    • “Jesus was born in a stable, which is where animals live! Pretend to be an animal and walk around the room. You can pretend to be a horse, dog, cow, pig, or any animal you’d like!” (Pause.)
    • “Baby Jesus was laid in a manger, which is a box animals eat from. Pretend to rock a baby!” (Pause.)
    • “God loves us so much, He gave us His Son. If you’re so glad God gave us Jesus, clap your hands!” (Pause.)
  • After the activity, say, “Great job! Who is God’s Son?” Encourage your toddler to say, “Jesus is God’s Son!”

December 25:

Parade Activity:

WHAT YOU DO: 

  • Say, “We celebrate Jesus’ birthday at Christmas. Today, we’re going to sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to Jesus and have a parade to celebrate!”
  • Lead toddlers in a parade around the room while singing “Happy Birthday.”
  • Switch it up and encourage them to do the following while singing:
    • Hop
    • Crawl
    • Twirl
    • Take big steps
    • Take little steps
  • After the activity, say, “Who is God’s Son?” Encourage your toddler to say, “Jesus is God’s Son!”
