This Week in Motion :: Forgive others because God forgives you.

Forgive others because God forgives you. Matthew 18:21-35

As a family, discuss a few questions together after your child watches this week’s Motion episode.

Question #1: When are some times it might be difficult to forgive others? What things keep us from wanting to forgive?

Question #2: When there’s someone you need to forgive, but you don’t want to, how does that make you feel? How can knowing God forgives us help us show forgiveness to others?

Question #3: In Matthew 18:21-22, Peter asked Jesus what to do if someone kept messing up and needing forgiveness. What should we do if we’ve forgiven someone for the same thing over and over? Why?

Question #4: How does it make you feel when you have chosen to forgive someone else? How can knowing that help you the next time you’re struggling to forgive someone?

Read the Bible — by yourself and with others. Try different translations. Set aside a special, quiet time to dive in.
Ask questions to help you understand — who’s the author, who are they writing to, and how does this part of the Bible point you toward Jesus?
Yak — share about what you’re learning and what God is showing you, especially with friends who don’t have a relationship with Jesus or want to learn more about Him.

This week:

Read: Ephesians 4:32 — Write down what the verse means to you!

Ask: According to this verse, why should we forgive others?

Yak: Share what you read with someone. How does knowing God forgives us help them forgive others?
