This Week in Motion :: God created you for a purpose.

August Series: When we look outside and see the beautiful world around us, we’re reminded that God is great, powerful, and creative. Jesus used creativity in the way He told parables, performed miracles, and helped His followers understand more about what it means to be part of God’s kingdom. We’re created in God’s image and can solve problems, create art and music, and design skyscrapers high into the sky. When we create, we reflect the image of God to the world around us!

God created you for a purpose.
We Are God’s Creation ● Ephesians 2:10

In Ephesians 2:10, we discover how we reflect God’s creativity. Paul reminds us: “ For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” (NIV) Because we are created in God’s image, we have the ability to create. Whether it’s through the arts or the sciences or simple problem-solving throughout the day, God created us with a purpose to use our gifts and talents to make a difference.

Engage in everyday moments together this week:

  • Morning Time: As your kid starts their day, tell them about something you’ve seen them do or say that shows they are growing in their relationship with God.
  • Meal Time: At a meal, have everyone at the table answer this question: “What are our strengths as a family, and how can we use them to help others?”
  • Drive Time: While on the go, talk about various items and their purpose. (e.g., cell phone, ads on TV, baseball glove, etc.)
  • Bed Time: Pray for each other: “God, You created us with a purpose. Help us to discover what You made us to do. Show us ways we can use how You made us to do things for You.
