This Week in Motion :: Hold on because there’s a bigger story.

Hold on because there’s a bigger story. Genesis 41-45

As a family, discuss a few questions together after your child watches this week’s Motion episode.

Question #1: Have you ever been disappointed with the way something went? When did something turn out better than you expected? (e.g., food tasted better than you expected, the first day of school was better than you thought, you liked a movie you weren’t sure about, etc.)

Question #2: Read Genesis 45:4-5. Joseph’s life turned out better than anyone expected because God had a bigger story! How does it make you feel to know God’s got a bigger story for you, just like He did for Joseph?

Question #3: Even though we know there’s a bigger story, why is it so hard to believe that sometimes?

Question #4: Grit means refusing to give up when life gets hard. The next time things get hard, what can you do to remind yourself there’s a bigger story?

Read the Bible — by yourself and with others. Try different translations. Set aside a special, quiet time to dive in.
Ask questions to help you understand — who’s the author, who are they writing to, and how does this part of the Bible point you toward Jesus?
Yak — share about what you’re learning and what God is showing you, especially with friends who don’t have a relationship with Jesus or want to learn more about Him.

This week:

Read: Isaiah 55:8-9 — Write down what the verse means to you!

Ask: How do these verses help you trust God’s bigger story?

Yak: Share what you read with someone. How do they remember there’s a bigger story going on?
