Family Activity: Made to Help

WHAT YOU NEED: activity pages, crayons or markers, glue stick, safety scissors

WHAT YOU DO:

  • Before the Activity: Print off the activity pages and give them to your child.
  • During the Activity: Assist your child as they cut out the pictures along the bottom of their page. Show them where to glue their pictures as you review the Bible story. After you review the story, encourage your child to color the pictures.
  • After the Activity: Talk about how God made us to help others and we can help in different ways.

WHAT YOU SAY:

  • During the Activity: “We learned about two people who were made to help others. This is Tabitha. (Point to Tabitha.) And this is Timothy. (Point to Timothy.)Tabitha helped others by making coats for people who needed them. Now, let’s glue the coat on Tabitha. (Pause.) Tabitha also helped others by making dresses for women who didn’t have enough money to buy clothes. We’ll glue the dress on Tabitha too. (Pause.)
Timothy helped others by showing them how to love people the way Jesus loves him. Let’s glue the heart on Timothy. (Pause.) Timothy also helped others by teaching them about Jesus. Now, let’s glue the Bible on Timothy, too!” (Pause.)
  • After the Activity: Tabitha and Timothy helped others in different ways because God made each of us to help others in different ways. Who made you to help others?” (God made me to help others.)
