Bible story: Wise Men ● Matthew 2:1-2; 2:9-11

Merry Christmas, eKidz families! This week, we’re celebrating that God sent His Son, Jesus, to be our friend forever. 

We’ll celebrate Jesus’ birthday by learning the Christmas story and what happened on the special night that Jesus was born. Happy Birthday, Jesus!

As a family, watch this week’s video and then discuss a few questions together. 

• Who was today’s Bible story about? (Mary, Joseph, Jesus, the shepherds, the wise men)
• What happened in today’s Bible story? (Mary and Joseph traveled to a town called Bethlehem. There wasn’t room at the inn, so they stayed in a stable. That night, Jesus was born! After Jesus was born, some wise men also came to see Jesus. They followed a star to find Him and they brought Him gifts.)
• Do we celebrate Christmas because it was the night Jesus was born? (yes)
• Who is God’s Son? (Jesus is God’s Son.)

Family Activity: Birthday Card For Jesus

WHAT YOU NEED: construction paper and crayons or markers

WHAT YOU DO:

• Before the Activity: Grab a piece of construction paper and make a card by folding it in half.
• During the Activity: On the piece of construction paper, dot the letters “JESUS” for your child to trace. Then encourage your child to color and decorate their card to show Jesus how special He is.

WHAT YOU SAY:

• Before the Activity: “Christmas is all about celebrating Jesus’ birthday! Let’s make a birthday card to celebrate!”
• After the Activity: “Christmas is all about celebrating Jesus’ birthday! We get to celebrate how special Jesus is by remembering the night He was born. Who is God’s Son?” (Jesus is God’s Son.)
