Bible story: Heaven ● John 14:3; Revelation 21:3-5

As a family, watch this week’s video and then discuss a few questions together. 

  • Today, we heard a few verses in the Bible. Was one of the verses from John or Jude? (John)
  • We learned Jesus is preparing a place for His friends. What is this place called? (heaven)
  • Will there be sadness in heaven? (no) 
  • Will there be boo-boos in heaven? (no) 
  • Is Jesus preparing a place for His friends because He loves us? (yes)

Family Activity: Party Banner

WHAT YOU NEED: activity page, hole punch, scissors, yarn, crayons or markers, craft supplies (e.g., stamps, dot markers, stickers, glitter, etc.)

WHAT YOU DO: 

  • Before the Activity: Print off the activity page and punch holes as indicated. Cut yarn in 36-inch lengths. Thread the yarn through the holes and knot it at the ends. 
  • During the Activity: Encourage your child to decorate the banner pieces.
  • After the Activity: Practice the memory verse with your child. Then talk about how Jesus wants to be their friend forever.

WHAT YOU SAY: 

  • Before the Activity: “Let’s make a party banner to celebrate that Jesus loves us so much, He is preparing a special place for everyone who chooses to be His friend. It also has our memory verse on it to help us remember that Jesus loves everyone and wants to be our friend forever. And we can love like Jesus!”
  • After the Activity: “Remember, we can love like Jesus because Jesus wants to be our friend forever. Who wants to be your friend forever?” (Jesus wants to be my friend forever.)
