This Week In Safari Babies :: I can pray to God.

We’re Learning… I can pray to God.
Bible Story: Daniel and the Lions ● Daniel 6

As a family, read “Daniel and the Lions” (Daniel 6) from a children’s Bible. (CLICK HERE for children’s Bible recommendations.)

After reading the Bible story, complete the activity together.

Response Activity:

  • Say, “Let’s learn about some times we can pray to God!”
  • Read the prompts and encourage your toddler to respond.
    • “Can you pretend you’re asleep? (Pause.) The dark can be scary when you’re trying to fall asleep, but we can pray to God and ask Him to help us be brave!”
    • “Let me see you pretend to brush your teeth. (Pause.) When you’re learning something new like how to brush your teeth, you can pray to God and ask Him to help you!”
    • “Now give yourself a hug. (Pause.) If your friend is feeling sick, you can pray to God and ask Him to help them feel better!”
    • “This time, pat your knees. (Pause.) If you fall down and get a boo-boo, you can pray to God and ask Him to help you feel better!”
    • “Show me a big smile, like you’re having lots of fun at the playground. (Pause.) When you’re having fun, you can pray to God and thank Him for everything!”
  • After the activity, say, “Great job! Remember, we can always pray and talk to God anytime, anywhere. Who can pray to God?” Encourage your toddler to say, “I can pray to God!” Then lead your toddler in prayer:

“Dear God, thank You for loving us! We know You are powerful and strong. Please help us always remember we can trust You because You are more powerful than anything. We love You. In Jesus’ name, amen.”

📚ADD TO YOUR LIBRARY 📚

In addition to reading stories from the Bible each Sunday, we also read a book together that reinforces what we’re learning. This month, we’re reading “First I Say a Prayer” by Crystal Bowman and Teri McKinley. If you’re looking for a faith-based book to add to your child’s library at home, you can learn more about this month’s book HERE
