Weekend Wrap-Up

Monthly Focus: God wants me to obey!
Bible Story: Genesis 6:9-14, 17-22
Weekend Activity: Find the Matching Animals
All month your child has been learning that “God wants me to obey” through the Bible story of Noah.  Noah obeyed God and built the ark and put two of every animal on it.

This week, review the Bible story with your child and reinforce the monthly focus, “God wants me to obey,” with an activity called Find the Matching Animals.

Print and cut-out two sets of the matching animal pictures.  Hide one set around a room in your house.  Hold up one animal picture and show it to your child and ask your child to find the matching animal picture hidden in the room.  When your child brings the matching picture back say, “Noah obeyed God and built the ark and put _______ (name of animal picture) on the ark.  God wants us to obey, too!”

Bible Story: Matthew 14:13-21, Jesus Feeds Thousands
Main Point: The Bible Says Jesus Does Great Things!
Memory Verse: “When you look for me with all your heart, you will find me.” – Jeremiah 29:13
Lesson Overview: AH HOY PIRATES! This week in our pirate series was full of fun as Quest kids learned “The Bible Says Jesus Does Great Things!” from the story of Jesus feeding thousands of people. Children learned about the miracle of Jesus using a little boy’s lunch of fish and loaves to feed over five thousand people!

Each weekend your child attends Quest, he or she will receive a treasure chest with a special pirate riddle on the back for you to solve together.  Here is this week’s riddle for you to solve with your child:

The answer to the riddle is a BOAT! Look at the Pirates! treasure map and encourage your child to find the boat.  After you and your child solve the riddle and find the boat, glue the treasure chest to the map.

ARRR you ready to play a fun pirate game to help you and your family review this week’s main point? Use this game to reinforce “The Bible Says Jesus Does Great Things!”

X Marks the Spot
Write each word from this week’s Main Point (“The Bible Says Jesus Does Great Things!”) on a different index card. Hide each of the 7 words around one room in your house. Draw a map of the room, and place an X where each card is hidden. Have your pirate(s) use the treasure map to find each of the cards, and once all the cards are found, work together as a family to put the words in the correct order.

To review what we’ve learned in previous weeks during our Pirates! series, substitute the Main Points below and have fun searching for more treasure!

Monthly Virtue: Unity – Choosing to work together for the same purpose.
Monthly Bible Verse: I appeal to you, brothers and sisters,in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought.   1 Corinthians 1:10
Bible Story: Jonathan and His Armor Bearer :: 1 Samuel 14:1-14
Lesson Overview:  During the Forecast: Chance of Rain series we have been learning about UNITY – choosing to work together for the same purpose.  This weekend we focused on having unity with the authority figures in our life.  We looked at 1 Samuel 14:1-14 and the unity Jonathan and his armor bearer had with each other.  Jonathan’s armor bearer was willing to do anything for his prince, because Jonathan was an authority in his life. They were unified, even though it was a little dangerous.

In this weekend’s movie, Up!, an elderly widower and a young wilderness adventurer fly off to South America on a floating house. The young explorer and his elderly companion must unite together to make it through their journey.

Check out The Family Forecast to learn more about unity and for activities to complete with your family.  Visit on the blog this Friday for The Family Forecast Family Pack GIVEAWAY – it contains all the materials your family will need to have a family movie night based on next weekend’s movie, Night at the Museum.
