Weekend Wrap-Up

1st – 5th Grade

Monthly Virtue: Wisdom – learning to make better choices.
Monthly Bible Verse: “So I turned my mind to understand, to investigate, and to search out wisdom.”  Ecclesiastes 7:25a
Bible Story: Bereans (filter what you hear) :: Acts 17:10-12
Lesson Overview:

One way we can learn to make wise choices is by filtering what we hear through what is written in the Bible.  The way that we know what Dr. Oldman, your small group leader, or even Pastor Steven says is true is by comparing it to the Bible.

It’s important for you to take what you hear and find it for yourself in the Bible.  The only way that we can truly know if something is true is by reading it in God’s Word!  When you take what you are learning and compare it to what the Bible says, you are gaining wisdom.

Spend time reading our Bible story from this weekend in Acts 17:10-12.

WEEKEND RESOURCE:  Anthony Shaheen’s Field Guide

3 years – Kindergarten

Bible Story: Genesis 1:9-13, Day 3 of Creation
Main Point: “God Made The Land and Plants!”
Memory Verse: “God saw all that he had made, and it was very good.” – Genesis 1:31a
Lesson Overview:

This weekend at the Roanoke Jones Cafe we heard how the famous Roanoke Jones stopped Professor Arty Morty from tricking the people that the land and plants were bad. The Professor tried to sell everyone bricks to cover up the land and plants to become rich!

Roanoke and Swanson told the people a Bible story about how “God Made the Land and Plants!” and that they were good. After hearing the story, people stopped buying bricks to cover up the land and plants.

During this series, your child is continuing to collect magnetized puzzle pieces to put on your refrigerator at home. This week, your child received the third puzzle piece of our puzzle.

Help your child put this puzzle piece on your refrigerator. Once your child collects all 8 puzzle pieces and puts them together, it will show something great that God created!

If your child is missing any puzzle pieces, be sure to ask the Quest leader at your campus for the puzzle pieces your child needs.

6 weeks – 2 years

Monthly Focus: God wants me to pray!
Bible Story:  Daniel 6:7-23
Weekend Activity: Prayer Place Mat craft

Place the Prayer Place Mat at the table where your toddler eats.  Before each meal, point to the place mat and review the Bible story with your child:

  • What sound does a lion make?  (Roar!)
  • Who was thrown into the lions’ den?  (Daniel)
  • Why was Daniel thrown into the lions’ den?  (Because he prayed to God)

Say, “But God kept Daniel safe.  Daniel prayed to God, and God wants us to pray to Him too!  Let’s pray to God right now.”  Pray and thank God for the weather, family, for the meal, etc.  Use the prayer time song on page 1 of the October Newsletter to help prepare your toddler to pray.
