Weekend Wrap-Up

1st – 5th Grade

Monthly Bible Verse: James 2:17-18 “In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. But someone will say, ‘You have faith; I have deeds.’ Show me your faith without deeds and I will show you my faith by my deeds.”
Bible Story: Hebrews 11:32, 1 Samuel 16:20-42
Virtue: Audacious Faith  – Daring to believe God for the impossible and doing something about it.
Main Point: Audacious Faith Requires Loyalty
Lesson Overview:

David is mentioned in the hall of faith and he did many great things for God. He was a man who chose to believe God for the impossible and even killed a giant with a slingshot and a stone!

Later in his life he made a friend named Jonathan. Jonathan’s father, Saul, was a greedy king. Saul heard that God was going to make David king instead of him. David and Jonathan made a secret pact to take care of each other and not to let Saul harm David.

David and Jonathan had to have audacious faith and believe God would protect them. Audacious faith requires loyalty. David and Jonathan remained loyal to each other and were able to show audacious faith.

SECRET FAMILY HANDSHAKE
Remember when you were a kid and you made secret handshakes with friends? Make a secret handshake with your family as a reminder of the friendship between David and Jonathan. In order to show audacious faith, we need to stay loyal to each other and our relationship with Christ.

Bible Story: A Voice in the Night | 1 Samuel 3
Main Point: God Has A Plan For Me!
Memory Verse: “Follow God’s example . . . as dearly loved children, and walk in the way of love.” Ephesians 5:1-2a
Lesson Overview:

A very special attraction opened this weekend at Animal Adventureland – the Yellow Yak Yee Haw! The Yee Haw is a show filled with music and dancing and lots of yee haw’s!

Rosie Rider loves music and wanted to share a special message with all the park guests. The Yellow Yak loves to sing and dance and Rosie wanted everyone to know that just like God had a special plan for the Yellow Yak at Animal Adventureland, God has a special plan for each one of us! We learned God had a special plan for Samuel and gave him a special plan of sharing news about Him!

Part of God’s plan for us is to learn more about God and live for Him. Help your child learn how to live for God by learning Bible verses. Every weekend in August, Quest kids can recite the Park Code (our memory verse) for a special prize. Work with your child to learn the Park Code this week at home!

Follow God’s example (point up with both hands)
as dearly loved children, (hug self)
and walk (walk in place)
in the way of love. (hug self)
