Part 2 is here.
For you know that we dealt with each of you as a father deals with his own children, encouraging, comforting and urging you to live lives worthy of God, who calls you into his kingdom and glory. (1 Thessalonians 2:11, 12 NIV)
Sometimes encouraging and comforting our kids seems to be the easiest and best part of what we get to do as parents. This final part of our series is maybe a different story.
The Apostle Paul refers to ‘urging you to live lives worthy of God’. To urge is to press and push. I don’t know about you but for the most part, I don’t really like it when someone presses me to do anything and our kids feel the same way.
As parents, there are some areas in our kids’ lives that we have no problem pressing in on like sports, academics, and extracurricular activities. But when it comes to God, we often don’t know what to say or where to begin.
If I may, I want to urge you to urge your kids to live lives worthy of God. This is going to require you to have your own encounters with God. Start by being a part of the church (this means attending, serving & giving), being in an eGroup, and reading Pastor Steven’s site on a regular basis.
How are you urging your kids to live lives worthy of God? (Leave us a comment)
Thanks for allowing us to partner with you,
