This Week In Quest :: I can thank God all the time.

Main point: I can thank God all the time.
Bible story: David Praises God ● 2 Samuel 16:12-15, Psalm 149:1-5

As a family, read “David Praises God” (2 Samuel 16:12-15, Psalm 149:1-5) from a children’s Bible. (CLICK HERE for children’s Bible recommendations.)

After reading the Bible story, discuss these questions together:

  • “What happened in the Bible story?” (David was king of Israel, and he loved God. David loved showing God he was thankful by singing and dancing.)
  • “David thanked God by praising Him with singing and dancing. Can you thank God all the time?” (yes)

This week, engage in everyday moments to continue the conversation:

  • Morning Time: When you go into your child’s room, cuddle them and say: “Good morning, (child’s name)! Since we can thank God for everything, let’s thank God for something right now. What should we thank God for? Thank You for (child’s choice), God!”
  • Cuddle Time: Cuddle with your child and pray: “God, thank You for (name something you are thankful for) this (morning, lunchtime, after work, evening, etc.). We can thank You all the time, for everything, God!”
  • Drive Time: While on the go, take turns looking for something you are thankful for and saying: “I can thank God for (name something you see).”
  • Bath Time: During bath time, sing the following words to the tune of “The Wheels on the Bus:” “I can thank God for (object/person), (object/person), (object/person). I can thank God for (object/person). I can thank God.” Repeat with different objects/persons. End the song by singing: “I can thank God for everything, everything, everything. I can thank God for everything. I can thank God.”
