Main point: I am a light when I love like Jesus.
Bible story: We are the Light ● Acts 8:26-35
As a family, read “We are the Light” (Acts 8:26-35) from the Bible. (CLICK HERE for children’s Bible recommendations.)
After reading the Bible story, discuss these questions together:
- What happened in the Bible story? (Philip saw a man sitting in a chariot. The man was reading God’s words, but the man needed help understanding what he was reading. Philip sat with the man and helped him understand God’s words.)
- Philip chose to shine his light and help the man. Can you be a light like Jesus too? (Yes)

This week, engage in everyday moments to continue the conversation:
-
- Morning Time: When you go into your child’s room, cuddle them and say, “Good morning, (child’s name)! I love starting the day with you. You’re like a bright light when you smile.”
- Cuddle Time: Cuddle with your child and pray, “Dear God, it’s so cool that Jesus is the light that shows us how You love us and how we can love others. And now we can be the light when we love like Jesus! Wow!”
- Bath Time: Add glow sticks to bath time and dim the lights. As your child plays with the glow sticks, talk about how we are like a light that glows when we love people the way Jesus loves us.
- Drive Time: While on the go, every time you or your child sees a light, say, “I can love like Jesus!” Talk about how we shine like a light when we love like Jesus and how that helps people see Jesus.
