Main point: God has plans for me.
Bible story: Joseph ● Genesis 37, 39-47
As a family, read “Joseph” (Genesis 37, 39-47) from the Bible. (CLICK HERE for children’s Bible recommendations.)
After reading the Bible story, discuss these questions together:
- What happened in the Bible story? (Joseph’s brothers were angry so they put Joseph in a hole and sold him to traders who took him to Egypt. Then someone told lies about Joseph and he was put in jail. But one day, the king of Egypt, named Pharaoh, had a dream, and God helped Joseph understand it. It meant that lots of food would grow for seven years, but after that, there would be seven years where no food would grow. Joseph saved up food and helped a lot of people — including his family!)
- Even though things were hard for Joseph, God was with him and God had a plan for him! Does God have plans for you too? (yes)

This week, engage in everyday moments to continue the conversation:
-
- Morning Time: When you go into your child’s room, cuddle them and say, “Good morning, (child’s name)! Where are we going today? (Talk together.) I am so thankful God will be with us wherever we go!”
- Cuddle Time: Cuddle with your child and pray, “Dear God, I know You love (child’s name) and have plans for them. Help us trust Your plans, because Your plans are always best.”
- Bath Time: Add toy food items to bath time. Encourage your child to cook some yummy food. As your child pretends, talk about how God had plans for Joseph to save A LOT of food to feed A LOT of people, including his own family.
- Drive Time: While on the go, take turns naming your favorite foods. Talk about how God had plans for Joseph to save food, and that food saved the lives of A LOT of people, including his own family! God had plans for Joseph, and God has plans for you too.
