Main point: Happy Birthday, Jesus!
Bible story: Happy Birthday, Jesus! â—Ź Luke 1:26-2:23
Merry Christmas, Quest families! In eKidz, we’re celebrating Jesus’ birthday by learning the story of the time Jesus was born. To celebrate as a family, read and discuss the Christmas story together.
As a family, read “Happy Birthday, Jesus!” (Luke 2:26-2:23) from a children’s Bible. (CLICK HERE for children’s Bible recommendations.)Â
After reading the Bible story, discuss these questions together:
- “What happened in the Bible story? (Mary and Joseph traveled to Bethlehem where Jesus was born in a stable. Angels visited shepherds in a field with their sheep and gave the good news Jesus was born. The shepherds went to see baby Jesus.)
- “Jesus is God’s Son, and we celebrate His birth at Christmas! Did God give us Jesus because He loves us?” (yes)

This week, engage in everyday moments to continue the conversation:Â
- Morning Time: When you go into your child’s room, cuddle them and say: “Merry Christmas, (child’s name)! Guess what day it is! It’s Christmas! And Christmas is Jesus’ birthday! When I count to three, let’s tell Jesus happy birthday! 1, 2, 3… Happy birthday, Jesus!”
- Cuddle Time: Cuddle with your child and pray: “God, (child’s name) and I have received so many wonderful gifts this Christmas. We are very thankful for all of them. But the gift we are MOST thankful for is Jesus. Thank You, God, for giving us Your Son Jesus to be our friend forever. Thank You for a time like Christmas where we can celebrate Jesus’ birthday. Happy birthday, Jesus! We love You!”
- Drive Time: While on the go, sing “Happy Birthday” to Jesus every time you see a candle Christmas decoration.
- Bath Time: Since it’s Jesus’ birthday, let’s have a BIRTHDAY BATH this week! Decorate the bathroom with streamers, birthday banner, party hat, party horn…have fun with it! Make sure to sing “Happy Birthday” to Jesus while your child is in the tub. This will be one bath your child won’t forget!
