This Week In Quest :: I can trust God knows best even when it’s hard.

Main point: I can trust God knows best even when it’s hard.
Bible story: Naaman ● 2 Kings 5:1-14

As a family, watch this week’s video and then discuss a few questions together.

  • Who was our Bible story about? (God, Naaman, Elisha)
  • What happened in the Bible story? (Naaman went to Elisha’s house. Elisha told Naaman to wash in the river and he would be well. Naaman thought it sounded silly, but he followed the instructions.)
  • How many times did Naaman wash in the river? (seven)
  • After Naaman washed in the river, was he well? (yes)
  • God knew what was best for Naaman, even though it sounded silly. Can you trust God knows what’s best even when it’s hard? (yes)

Family Activity: This or That

WHAT YOU NEED: activity page, miscellaneous art supplies (e.g., stickers, jewels, glitter, pom pom balls, etc.)

WHAT YOU DO:

  • Before the Activity: Print off the activity page and put the miscellaneous art supplies on the table.
  • During the Activity: Encourage your child  to make “this or that” decisions about the art supplies, such as using a sticker or glitter. Let your child make their own masterpieces.

WHAT YOU SAY:

  • During the Activity: “Pick one to use. All right! This (hold up a supply) or that (hold up another supply)? The great thing about this or that art is you can choose what you want or don’t want to use to create it! (Repeat and continue as interest holds.) Wow, what a fantastic job you did!”
  • After the Activity: “In our stories this month, we’ve learned that God’s way is best because God knows everything. But each person was given a choice, just like we all have choices. Each person in our story was given a chance to follow God’s way or go their way. What happened with Naaman in our story today? Did he go straight to the water and dip seven times as God said? (Pause.) No, he didn’t. But his workers told him he should go into the water. So he did, and he dipped seven times. When he came out of the water, all of his boo-boos were gone! Amazing! God really knows what’s best.” (God knows what’s best for me.)
