Main point: God is with me wherever I go.
Bible story: Jonah ● Jonah 1-3:3
As a family, read “Jonah” (Jonah 1-3:3) from the Bible. (CLICK HERE for children’s Bible recommendations.)
After reading the Bible story, discuss these questions together:
- What happened in the Bible story? (God told Jonah to go to Nineveh, but Jonah didn’t want to go. Instead, he got onto a ship going away from Nineveh. When there was a big storm, he was thrown into the water and was swallowed by a big fish.)
- God was with Jonah the whole time. Is God with you wherever you go too? (yes)

This week, engage in everyday moments to continue the conversation:
-
- Morning Time: When you go into your child’s room, cuddle them and say, “Good morning, (child’s name)! Listen for a second. (Pause.) What do you hear? (Talk about sounds you hear.) I think it’s amazing God always hears you and God always hears me.”
- Cuddle Time: Cuddle with your child and pray, “Dear God, thank You for loving us no matter what and for always being with (child’s name) and me. No one loves as big as You, God!”
- Bath Time: Add bath crayons and toy cars to bath time. Ask your child to draw a road and then drive the cars on it. As they play, talk about the places where their car is going. Each time your child names a place, say, “God is with you when you go to the (name of place).”
- Drive Time: While on the go, take turns saying, “God is with me when I go to (name of place).” End by saying, “God is always with me!”
