This Week In Quest Preschool :: I can help my friends have joy.

Main point: I can help my friends have joy.
Bible story: Be Joyful with Others ● Romans 12:15

As a family, read “Be Joyful with Others” (Romans 12:15) from the Bible. (CLICK HERE for children’s Bible recommendations.)

After reading the Bible story, discuss these questions together:

  • What happened in the Bible story? (Paul wrote a letter to Jesus’ friends. He told them how they could love like Jesus and help their friends have joy.)
  • Can you help your friends have joy, like Paul’s letter said? (yes)

This week, engage in everyday moments to continue the conversation:

    • Morning Time: When you go into your child’s room, cuddle them and say, “Good morning, (child’s name)! Did you get plenty of sleep? Are you ready to be a good friend? Let’s see how many people we can help have joy today.”
    • Cuddle Time: Cuddle with your child and pray, “God, I pray (child’s name) and I will think more about others and how we can be a good friend. When a friend is sad, help us sit with them. When a friend is happy, help us be happy with them. We want to help others have joy the way Jesus gives us joy!”
    • Bath Time: Tell your child they can bring toy friends to bath time. As your child plays, say, “Do you know we can help our friends have joy? We can give our friends a hug when they are sad. (Hug a toy.) We can be happy with our friends when they are happy. (Give a toy a high-five.) When we love our friends the way Jesus loves us, we help them have joy!”
    • Drive Time: While on the go, think of ways you can be a good friend. If a friend is sad, you can give them a hug. If a friend is happy, you can be happy with them. Talk about how we can help our friends have joy by being a good friend to them.
