Main point: I love like Jesus when I help others.
Bible story: Tabitha Helps ● Acts 9:36-42
As a family, read “Tabitha Helps” (Acts 9:36-42) from the Bible. (CLICK HERE for children’s Bible recommendations.)
After reading the Bible story, discuss these questions together:
- What happened in the Bible story? (Tabitha loved Jesus and knew the most important thing Jesus taught us to do is to love people the way Jesus loves people. Tabitha was good at sewing so she loved by making clothes for people.)
- Tabitha loved like Jesus by helping others. Can you love like Jesus by helping others? (Yes)

This week, engage in everyday moments to continue the conversation:
-
- Morning Time: When you go into your child’s room, cuddle them and say, “Good morning, (child’s name)! Would you like for me to help you get ready for the day? Helping others is a great way to love like Jesus!”
- Cuddle Time: Cuddle with your child and pray, “Dear God, there are so many people who need help. Help (child’s name) and me see people we can help and then do what we can to help them. Then they will see that Jesus loves!”
- Bath Time: Add small plastic animals to bath time. Say, “Look at all of these animals! Will you help me put the animals back in their home?” (Point to the corners in bathtub.) Then say, “Thank you for helping! Helping others is one way we can love like Jesus!”
- Drive Time: While on the go, point out places and talk with your child about how you can help others in those places. For example, in a fast food restaurant, you can smile, get napkins, and clean up after yourself.
