Main point: Jesus is born to show the world that God loves us.
Bible story: Jesus Is Born ● Luke 2:1-7
As a family, read “Jesus Is Born” (Luke 2:1-7) from the Bible. (CLICK HERE for children’s Bible recommendations.)
After reading the Bible story, discuss these questions together:
- What happened in the Bible story? (Joseph and Mary traveled to Bethlehem. There wasn’t room for them in the inn, but they were able to sleep in a stable which is where their baby was born.)
- Does God love us so much, He gave us His Son, Jesus? (yes)

This week, engage in everyday moments to continue the conversation:
- Morning Time: When you go into your child’s room, cuddle them and say, “Good morning, (child’s name)! I want to show you how much I love you. (Name some special ways you show love to your child.) God gave us His Son, Jesus, to show us how much God loves us!”
- Cuddle Time: Cuddle with your child and pray: “Dear God, thank You for giving me (child’s name) to be my child. I love them so much. That’s why I know You giving us Your Son, Jesus, is such a special gift.”
- Bath Time: Add toy people and barn animals to bath time. Encourage your child to set up the woman, man, baby, and animals. Show them how to make a manger with a washcloth. As your child plays, talk about how Mary, Joseph, and baby Jesus stayed where animals sleep because there were no guest rooms.
- Drive Time: While on the go, look for different forms of transportation. Airplane? Truck? Bicycle? Bus? Walking? Talk about ways Mary and Joseph could have traveled to Bethlehem. Then talk about what happened when they got to Bethlehem: Jesus was born!
