This Week In Safari Babies :: God made everything.

Main point: Jesus is the light of the world.
Bible story: Jesus is the Light ● John 1:4-5, 8:12, 9:5

As a family, read “Jesus is the Light” (John 1:4-5, 8:12, 9:5) from the Bible. (CLICK HERE for children’s Bible recommendations.)

After reading the Bible story, discuss these questions together:

  • What happened in the Bible story? (God sent Jesus to be the light of the world. Jesus is a light that helps us see how amazing God is. When Jesus loved people, He was a bright light showing us how God loves people.)
  • Jesus is the light of the world and He loves everyone. Can you love like Jesus and love everyone too? (Yes)

This week, engage in everyday moments to continue the conversation:

    • Morning Time: When you go into your child’s room, say, ”Good morning, (child’s name)! I’m going to turn on the bright light. Lights help us see. Jesus is the light of the world that helps us see how much God loves us and how we can love one another.”
    • Cuddle Time: Cuddle with your child and pray, “Dear God, thank You for sending Jesus to be the light of the whole world because that means Jesus is the light for (child’s name) and me!”
    • Bath Time: Add glowsticks to bath time and dim the bathroom lights. As your child plays, talk about how Jesus is the light of the world. Jesus isn’t a light like a lamp or glowstick. Jesus is the light that shows us how much God loves us and how we can love one another.
    • Drive Time: While on the go, as you pass different places, say together, “Jesus is the light of (name of place).” Places can be the grocery store, park, library, gas station, school, etc. Talk about how Jesus is the light everywhere, because Jesus is the light of the world!
