We’re Learning… I can help others.
Bible Story: The Good Samaritan ● Luke 10:25-37
As a family, read “The Good Samaritan” (Luke 10:25-37) from a children’s Bible. (CLICK HERE for children’s Bible recommendations.)
After reading the Bible story, complete the activity together.
Response Activity:
LOVE Week is July 26-August 2! LOVE Week is a special time in our church where we serve in our communities. If you’re interested in serving as a family, you can find family-friendly events HERE.
- Say, “We can always look for ways to help others, especially during LOVE Week — it’s when our church shows God’s love by helping others. Let’s learn some ways we can help during LOVE Week!”
- Read each prompt and encourage your toddler to respond:
- “You can help others by cleaning up trash. Pretend to pick up trash off the ground if you can help others!”
- “You can comfort those who are sick by making them cards. Pretend to color if you can help others.”
- “You can help clean at a school. Pretend to sweep if you can help others.”
- “You can help sort clothes for families in need. Pat your head if you can help others.”
- After the activity, say, “Great job! I hope you’ll look for people around you who you can help. Who can help others?” Encourage your toddler to say, “I can help others!” Then lead your toddler in prayer:
“Dear God, thank You for being with us and showing us how to help others. Please give us kind hearts and help us be ready to serve when someone is in need. We love You. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
📚ADD TO YOUR LIBRARY 📚
In addition to reading stories from the Bible each Sunday, we also read a book together that reinforces what we’re learning. This month, we’re reading “I Can Help” by Jennifer Hilton and Kristen McCurry. If you’re looking for a faith-based book to add to your child’s library at home, you can learn more about this month’s book HERE!
