This Week in Motion Elementary :: Practice talking about God.

May series: Growing in faith is not something that happens by simply learning more information about the Bible. To experience faith, we need to practice our faith, and that takes commitment.

This month, we’ll help kids discover one of the best plans they can make is to commit to an ongoing relationship with Jesus. We hope they commit to practicing their faith by reading God’s Word, praying to God honestly and consistently, talking about God with others, and living for God in how they show love throughout the everyday moments of their life.

Practice talking about God.
Peter Says that Jesus is the MessiahMatthew 16:13-20

For Week 3, we head to Matthew 16:13-20, where Jesus asked His disciples: “Who do you say I am?” After everything they’d seen Jesus do and heard Jesus say, what did they really think about Jesus? This gave Peter the perfect moment to declare what he believed: that Jesus truly is the Son of God.

Family Discussion Questions:

  1. How can you get more comfortable talking about God?
  2. Who are some people in your life you can practice talking to God with?
  3. What’s the biggest thing that stops you from practicing talking about God?

Engage in everyday moments together this week:

  • Morning time: As your kid starts their day, tell them something good about them.
  • Mealtime: At a meal this week, have everyone at the table answer this question: “What are some ways we can practice talking about God?”
  • Drive time: While on the go, ask your kid, “What is something God has done in your life?” (If they can’t think of anything, share something God has done in yours.)
  • Bedtime: “God, help us remember all the things You have done for us and to tell others about what You mean to us when we have the opportunity.”
