An Attitude of Gratitude

Did anyone out there read that title and say, “Oh, no problem! Nothing’s easier than an attitude of gratitude”?

(If so, we might get in touch with you to help us write some future emails!)

But if you’re like us and you struggle to keep an attitude of gratitude, check out these three quick tips to get your mind back in a thankful place; they’re from 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18.

  1. Rejoice always. We have an ironclad, eternal reason to rejoice — Jesus! Keep your mind on who He is and what He’s done for you when you’re struggling to be grateful.
  2. Pray continually. Go to God when you’re having trouble. Ask Him to remind you what He’s done, show you what He’s doing, and to help you be expectant to see Him show up in your future.
  3. Give thanks in all circumstances. Probably the toughest one, and often it’s because we’re fighting against feelings of entitlement. (e.g., I deserve to be having a better day than this.) But if we take a moment to look — really, truly look — there’s usually no end to things we can find to give thanks for. So even when the circumstance isn’t good, we can still give thanks!
