Talking to our kids about the crucifixion can feel overwhelming — after all, it’s one of the most intense moments in history. But it’s also one of the most important. Instead of focusing only on the pain Jesus endured, help them see why He did it. The crucifixion wasn’t just about suffering — it was about love, sacrifice, and redemption.
Encourage open conversation. Ask, “What does the cross mean to you?” or “How do you think Jesus felt in that moment?” Let them wrestle with deep questions, and be honest if you don’t have all the answers. Read Luke 23 together, and talk about how Jesus willingly gave His life because of His love for us.
Most importantly, remind them: The crucifixion isn’t the end of the story. Easter morning proves we have a hope that always wins.
