November series: Jesus said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” (Acts 20:35, NIrV) However, sometimes generosity doesn’t come naturally to us. When we really enjoy the things we have, sometimes that makes it harder for us to be willing to share with others. But, with the help of God’s Spirit, we can learn that HOW we give is more important than even WHAT we give. It’s about our hearts.

Jesus showed us how to give.
Love in Action • 1 John 3:16-18
We close out the month in 1 John 3:16-18. John was writing to a group of believers to encourage them and remind them about Jesus’ love for them. John described how Jesus gave the greatest example of love when He gave His life for us. To love IS to give. Whether we give our time, our talent, or our things, we can show the love of Jesus when we give to those in need.
Family Discussion Questions:
- When has someone been generous to you?
- Why is it important to remember that Jesus showed us how to give?
- How can you give to others this week?
Engage in everyday moments together this week:
- Morning Time: As your kid starts their day, tell them something about who they are that you consider a gift to you personally.
- Meal Time: At a meal this week, have everyone at the table answer this question: “What are some ways Jesus gave to others?”
- Drive Time: While on the go, ask your kid, “Who is someone you know who is generous?”
- Bed Time: Pray for each other: “Jesus, thank You for showing us how to give to others. May we always be willing to share our words or stuff to let others know how much You love them and we do too!”
