This Week In Quest :: I can thank God for food.

Main point: I can thank God for food.
Bible story: Manna and Quail ● Exodus 16

As a family, read “Manna and Quail” (Exodus 16) from a children’s Bible. (CLICK HERE for children’s Bible recommendations.)

After reading the Bible story, discuss these questions together:

  • “What happened in the Bible story?” (The Israelites had been traveling and they were hungry. They complained to Moses and God heard them. God gave them food to eat.)
  • “God gave the Israelites food and they thanked Him. Can you thank God for food?” (yes)

This week, engage in everyday moments to continue the conversation:

  • Morning Time: When you go into your child’s room, cuddle them and say: “Good morning, (child’s name)! Let’s start our day with telling God thanks for our food. Thank You for our food, God!”
  • Cuddle Time: Cuddle with your child and pray: “God, sometimes we forget that we should always thank You for our food. Whether it’s crackers for a snack or our favorite (name of favorite meal) dinner or even the dinner that isn’t our favorite, we should always thank You for it. You are so good, God. Thank You for everything!”
  • Drive Time: While on the go, ask your child what their favorite foods are. Talk about your favorite foods too. Then say: “I’m so thankful God gives us yummy foods to eat!”
  • Bath Time: Add toy food items, small mixing bowls, plastic spoons, measuring cups, etc. to bath time. Encourage your child to wash the food, scoop, pour, stir, and cook. As your child plays, talk about how we can thank God for our food.
