This Week In Quest Preschool :: I can live for God.

Main point: I can live for God.
Bible story: Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego ● Daniel 3:10-28

As a family, read “Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego” (Daniel 3:10-28) from a children’s Bible. (CLICK HERE for children’s Bible recommendations.)

After reading the Bible story, discuss these questions together:

  • What happened in the Bible story? (King Nebuchadnezzar told everyone to bow down to his statue. But Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego didn’t because they knew they were only supposed to bow down and worship God. The king put them into the fiery furnace, but God took care of them and they were safe!)
  • “Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego chose to live for God. Can you live for God too?” (yes)

This week, engage in everyday moments to continue the conversation:

    • Morning Time: When you go into your child’s room, say, “Good morning, (child’s name)! Let’s start our day by asking God to help us live for Him. (Cuddle child.) God, thank You for a new day. Thank You for always loving us. Please help us live for You today by loving others, helping, sharing, and saying kind words. We love You, God. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
    • Cuddle Time: Cuddle with your child and pray, “God, sometimes it’s hard to not do what everyone else is doing. But even when it’s hard, (child’s name) and I want to live for You like Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego did. Please give us the courage to always love You the way You always love us.”
    • Bath Time: Add three toy people to bath time to act out the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. Say, “Three men lived for God, so they did not bow to the king’s statue. The king got mad and threw the men into a fire. (Knock toys into water.) God was with the men, and God kept them safe! (Put toys back on edge of tub.) Yay, God!”
    • Drive Time: While on the go, talk about ways we can live for God. (Help others. Forgive. Say kind words. Pray for others. Share what we have.)
