This Week In Quest Preschool :: Jesus teaches us that God loves us no matter what.

Main point: Jesus teaches us that God loves us no matter what.
Bible story: Prodigal Son ● Luke 15:11-24

As a family, read “Prodigal Son” (Luke 15:11-24) from a children’s Bible. (CLICK HERE for children’s Bible recommendations.)

After reading the Bible story, discuss these questions together:

  • What happened in the Bible story? (Jesus told the story about a man with two sons. The youngest son got money from his father, packed his things, and left. After he spent all the money, he went home and told his father he was sorry. The father forgave him.)
  • Jesus told this story to teach us something important. Does Jesus teach us God loves us no matter what?  (yes)

This week, engage in everyday moments to continue the conversation:

  • Morning Time: When you go into your child’s room, cuddle them and say: “Good morning, (child’s name)! I love you so, so, so much! I will always love you no matter what. And guess what! Jesus teaches us that God loves us no matter what too!”
  • Cuddle Time: Cuddle with your child and pray: “God, (child’s name) and I are so thankful that You love us no matter what. Jesus teaches us that nothing will ever make you stop loving us, and that is awesome! Help us talk to you when we make a wrong choice because we know You will always forgive us and love us.”
  • Bath Time: As you help your child bathe, say, “I love you when you’re silly. I love you when you’re sleepy. I love you when you get mad. I love you when you (continue naming all the times you love your child). Jesus teaches us that God loves you no matter what!”
  • Drive Time: While on the go, each of you share a time when you needed to say, “I’m sorry.” Talk about how we can always go to God, even when we need to say we’re sorry for making a wrong choice, because God loves us no matter what.
