This Week In Quest Preschool :: Jesus teaches us we can share.

Main point: Jesus teaches us we can share.
Bible story: Bigger Barns ● Acts 2:45; Luke 12:16-23

As a family, read “Bigger Barns” (Acts 2:45; Luke 12:16-23) from a children’s Bible. (CLICK HERE for children’s Bible recommendations.)

After reading the Bible story, discuss these questions together:

  • What happened in the Bible story? (Jesus told an important story about a farmer. Jesus told this story to teach us it’s important to share what we have.)
  • Jesus told this story to teach us something important. Does Jesus teach us to share? (yes)

This week, engage in everyday moments to continue the conversation:

  • Morning Time: When you go into your child’s room, cuddle them and say: “Good morning, (child’s name)! I have a yummy breakfast for us! While we eat, we can think of ways we can share today because Jesus teaches us it’s important to share what we have.”
  • Cuddle Time: Cuddle with your child and pray: “God, You are so generous. Thank You for the toys, food, and clothes that we have. Help (child’s name) and me share what we have when we get the chance. We want to share because Jesus teaches us it’s important to share.”
  • Bath Time: Add two plastic cups and a spoon to bath time. Fill one cup with water. Say, “The cup with lots of water wants to share with the empty cup. Can you share by scooping water with this spoon?” As they scoop water, say, “You’re doing a great job sharing! Jesus teaches us that it’s important to share.”
  • Drive Time: While on the go, look for a barn or storage building. Take guesses as to what might be in the barn/building. Talk about the story Jesus told about the man who built bigger barns to store all of his food instead of sharing it with others. Then, name one thing you can share today.
