This Week In Safari Babies :: God is kind.

We’re Learning… God is kind.
Bible Story: The Ten Commandments ● Exodus 19:9-11

As a family, read “The Ten Commandments” (Exodus 19:9-11) from a children’s Bible. (CLICK HERE for children’s Bible recommendations.)

After reading the Bible story, complete the activity together.

Game Activity:

  • Say, “Today, we’re learning about the 10 special rules God gave us to follow. Let’s play Follow the Leader! I won’t give you rules to follow, but I will give movements. I’m going to do them and I want you to follow me!”
  • Read each prompt below and encourage your toddler to do the corresponding movement.
    • “Follow me and stomp your feet.”
    • “Follow me and twirl in a circle.”
    • “Follow me and pat your head.”
    • “Follow me and jump up and down.”
    • “Follow me and touch your toes.”
    • “Follow me and pat your knees.”
    • “Follow me and march around the room.”
  • After the activity, say, “You did a great job following my instructions! Remember, God gave special rules to FOLLOW and they’re called the 10 commandments. He gave these rules because He is kind and He wants to help us make good choices. Who is kind?

📚ADD TO YOUR LIBRARY 📚

In addition to reading stories from the Bible each Sunday, we also read a book together that reinforces what we’re learning. This month, we’re reading “God is Kind” by Jamie Calloway-Hanauer. If you’re looking for a faith-based book to add to your child’s library at home, you can learn more about this month’s book HERE!

NAMES OF GOD

This year, our NextGen ministry is focusing on the names of God. This month, we’re focusing on the name Yahweh Hesed. Yahweh Hesed is a name used for God which describes God’s loving kindness, forgiveness, mercy, and goodness. As you pray for your toddler this week, pray they’ll grow up to know God personally.

Dear God, thank You for loving us. As my child grows up, I pray they’ll get to know you, Yahweh Hesed, and begin a personal relationship with You. Please help them grow close to You so they can know You for who You are — loving, kind, and good. We love You, God. In Jesus’ name, amen.
