This Week in Motion Elementary :: Be kind to people who are different from you.

February Series: God showed kindness by sending Jesus for us — even when we didn’t deserve it. Because of God’s love for us, we can be kind to everyone. Kindness is a fruit of the Spirit. And when you show kindness to others, you give them a glimpse into the heart of God and how much God loves them. Kindness should be a characteristic of people who follow Jesus. Not only did Jesus model kindness, but He also commanded it. He taught us to treat others the way we want to be treated. When we practice kindness toward others, we’re actually living out the ultimate plan God has for the world.

Don’t Let Me Down (Good Samaritan)Luke 10:25-37

In Luke 10:25-37, a religious leader asked Jesus, “Who is my neighbor?” Jesus answered with the parable of the Good Samaritan. Jesus used this story to completely change how people who follow Him should look at showing kindness to others. It’s not just for people we know or like but for everyone we meet.

Engage in everyday moments together this week:

  • Morning time: As your kid starts their day, let them know about something they said or did that encouraged you.
  • Mealtime: At a meal this week, have everyone at the table answer this question: “What is something nice someone has said to you? What is something mean or unkind someone has said to you?”
  • Drive time: While on the go, ask your kid: “Tell me about one thing you did today that made you feel proud (and why).”
  • Bedtime: Pray for each other: “God, help us be kind to those who are different from us. Show us things we can say and do for them to help them feel loved.”
