This Week in Motion Elementary :: Give with a good attitude.

November series: Jesus said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” (Acts 20:35, NIrV) However, sometimes generosity doesn’t come naturally to us. When we really enjoy the things we have, sometimes that makes it harder for us to be willing to share with others. But, with the help of God’s Spirit, we can learn that HOW we give is more important than even WHAT we give. It’s about our hearts.

Give with a good attitude.
God Loves a Cheerful Giver2 Corinthians 9:7

In 2 Corinthians 9:7, Paul was writing to the church in Corinth, encouraging them to give. When we give, it pleases God — not just because of what we give, but because of the way we give it. When we give with a good attitude, we can help others see what God is like.

Family Discussion Questions:

  1. How does it make you feel when someone smiles at you?
  2. How do you feel when you give?
  3. When is it difficult to give with a good attitude?

Engage in everyday moments together this week:

  • Morning Time: As your kid starts their day, compliment them on a time when they chose to have a good attitude about something that was challenging.
  • Meal Time: At a meal this week, have everyone answer this question: “How does it make you feel when you give to others?”
  • Drive Time: While on the go, ask your kid, “Who is someone you think has a good attitude about things? Why do you think that?”
  • Bed Time: Pray for each other: “God, may we always give with a good attitude. You have given us so much, and we thank You for the chance to give back some of what You have given us to be a part of the good things You are doing.”
